Artwork for the Cancer Institute

The Saint Agnes Foundation hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony today to celebrate the donation of an original oil painting by renowned local artist, Tracy Lambros. The Saint Agnes Cancer Institute’s patient waiting area is the new home for the painting, entitled “Along the Canal” Tangier Island Series #3. Physicians and Associates from the Cancer Institute joined the Foundation Team in expressing gratitude to Ms. Lambros for her generous gift.
Ms. Lambros’ late father, Nicholas A. “Nick” Lambros, was an interior designer and received care at Saint Agnes from James P. Richardson, M.D., M.P.H. and Lynn Tao, M.D. In her remarks, Ms. Lambros explained she shares her father’s belief that “… good interior design and art can transform a space from ordinary to extraordinary and that even small changes, like painting a wall or hanging a work of art, could change a space from one you had to be in to one that you wanted to be in.” Ms. Lambros hopes that people experiencing difficult times in the Cancer Institute will have the opportunity to “… stop and look at the painting and possibly be transported to a better place, even if it is just for a few moments.”
